Western medicine study that shows that Butterbur, Petasites works on runny noses caused by allergies.

Thanks for posting this information.

I brought up butterbur as an herb found to be effective for allergies back in this thread a couple of years ago. At that time you commented that you found the potential side effects to be scary. Did you ever try butterbur or find out more about its safety?

Well, I still haven't used it... but not everyone has liver problems. :o) I won't use stuff that causes any kind of liver problems... doesn't mean others can't. I am not supposed to use Echinacea (much) either... because it WORKS. The latest info I got was that it increases infected t-cells... but still... doesn't that mean it works?

WebMD quotes German studies, and they say avoid butterbur products with pyrrolizidine alkaloids (PAs). Do not use butterbur products unless they are certified and labeled as free of PAs.
