| I have always harvested mullein leaves in their second year, when the plants shoot up their tall spikes. Over the winter I read in one source that they actually should be harvested in the first year, when only a basal rosette. Is that true? Any other thoughts?

| I harvest from both first and second year plants. I don't notice any real difference. FataMorgana |

| I harvest mullein leaves in the first year or in the second year before the flower spike gets sent up. Once the plant is sending up that flower spike, the majority of the energy is in developing flowers. |
