| Combine a teaspoon Slippery Elm powder with enough tincture of Myrrh, or tincture of Calendula, or tincture of Echinacea to make a thick paste. Apply to affected area and bandage. Leave for 1-2 hours, then remove bandage. This acts as a 'drawing ointment'. Bandage a piece of fresh Onion or Tomato over the splinter, or cover the area with honey and bandage, to bring the splinter to the surface. A piece of raw, fat bacon bandaged over a splinter or boil or an embedded piece of glass, will draw it out, usually overnight. Sometimes, if you rub lightly over the area with some iodine, the splinter/thorn/burr will darken, making it easier to locate and remove. Only do this if you are not allergic to iodine, of course. |
