Goldenrod for Tea?

I read that you can use goldenrod blossoms for tea and also eat the leaves (if boiled), but that there is a mold that grows on the leaves that makes them poisonous. I couldn't find a picture of the mold, so I'm not sure if that's what our goldonrod has (it has spots). Regardless, I'm not gonna try the leaves (hat stewed greens anyways), but I'm wondering if you can still use the flowers if it has the mold?
