looking for a really effective arthritis salve...

I have several family members that really suffer from arthritis. They are for the most part reluctant to take anything internally. Does anyone have a recipie for a salve that would help with both swelling and pain?

Thanks

Larissa

RE: looking for a really effective arthritis salve...

Hi Larissa, Sometimes i feel the same as your family.
I have a couple of receipes. The first has (for me) too many hard to find ingredients but the second is better.

1- Arthritis poultice - 6 parts mullen leaves - 9 parts slippery elm bark - 3 parts lobelia - 1 part cayenne

add 3 oz. mixture to boiling hot water to make a paste. Spread the paste on a cloth and apply to affected parts.

2- Arthritis Liniment - Wintergreen - yerba santa

Mix in equal parts. Put any amount of mixture in enough olive oil to cover. Simmer for 30 minutes. Strain and apply to affected parts when cool.

FROM THE Herb Book by John B. Lust, ND.,D.B.M. Puplished by Bantam Books,1974

Hope this helps. any Questions feel free to come back.
