Love them apples. Sorry to report that 2 of my 3 apple trees are going to get the axe. :( I am just too far south. The apples are not doing well at all. They don't get enough chill-hours to flower reliably even though they are 'southern' cultivars, and diseases are terrible here (especially some kind of black rot in the trunks). I probably should have known better and stuck to the theory of putting the right plant in the right place, and I am a couple of states too far south ... ah, well. The other plants are doing pretty well, so it is time to make way for something else ... I'm thinking avocado, although I may be a bit too far north for that.
I love apples too, plus most of all the other "super foods" listed. I yes, I do always eat the skin! I am trying my hand at growing blueberries organically this year. My bushes are just babies right now but hopefully I'll get a handful or too next Summer. I eat blueberries almost everyday, but worry about what might have been sprayed on them before they came to market. I'd also like to try some fruit trees, but don't want to have to spray them. I'm considering apricots.
