Scented bookmarks

Hello. Any ideas on how to make scented bookmarks ? Can this be done with the use of essential oils ? I always liked to perfume my books, but I find the perfumed sachets I keep bying from the supermarket rather expensive. Thank you in advance for your comments.

ideally? drizzle essential oil on blotter or watercolor paper, let absorb, then cover with decorative papers or fabrics to keep the book from direct contact.

have seen them with a paper 'sleeve' perforated, with a blotter-paper insert that you could refresh.
