Can anyone offer guidance on the ideal way to harvest, cure and store comfrey root?

I usually just cut what I need and then tie into bundles. Then hang and dry in a cool dark place with air movement.
Alton Brown had a good idea on "Good Eats", he places herbs onto airconditioner filters and runs a fan through them.
