Feverfew has traditionally been used as a tea(a teaspoon to a cup) to releive the symptoms of colds among other things.May cause dermatitis or allergic reactions and mouth sores if you are allergic to ragweed. Works for me. May not for you.

Here's the laundry list of things feverfew is supposed to treat:

"Abdominal pain, anemia, anti-inflammatory, asthma, blood vessel dilation (relaxation), blood vessel disorders (antiangiogenic), breast cancer, cancer, central nervous system diseases, colds, colorectal cancer, constipation, cystic fibrosis, diarrhea, digestion, dizziness, fever, gastrointestinal distress, joint pain, induction of labor/abortion, heart muscle injury, insect bites, insect repellant, leukemia, menstrual cramps, neurological complications of malaria, pancreatic cancer, parasitic infections (leishmaniasis), promotion of menstruation, rash, ringing in the ears, skin cancer, toothache, tranquilizer, uterine disorders."

Of these, the best (though limited) evidence is for migraine prevention.

Everything seems to work for colds, and nothing seems to pan out in studies. Its very frustrating for people that there is no cure for the common cold. There is no reliable way to tell if a cold is going to be a short one or a long one Regularly an "easy" cold will sweep through an area and everyone will be fine, except a handful who have it for weeks, or a "tough" cold will come through and a handful will have it for a few days then be over it. This effect lead my father to for a while think that pounds of raw garlic would cure a cold, he talked about "tough" colds that he only had for a few days, he even argued with me leading to yelling that Garlic would cure a cold when I got one, then he got an "easy" cold that lasted for two months while he was on garlic, he still insists that Garlic will cure a cold, he just doesn't harass me to take it any more.

Thank you for the great information. I did'nt know all that. Sounds almost as good as penacyllin.Remember when it could cure everything. I do. I must start growing more. Who said it cured the comman cold? I thought it only alleviated symptoms. You two are a font of knowledge.

Beyond the fact that Viagra doesn't work on colds, what difference does it make if you breathe slowly or quickly when holding your head over a pot of boiling water? If you're close enough to expose sensitive tissue to hot steam, the rate at which you breathe will make little difference - you'll still suffer burns.

Vaporizers are cheap, a lot safer than leaning over the stove and can be helpful dealing with congestion and mucous membrane irritation.
