I would like some information on the peppermint plant used to make cold tea and used for other medical purposees. Also, can it be purchased from greenhouses. Is mint found growing in yards the same thing? Thanks

Lots of nurseries/greenhouses now sell multiple types of mint including various named forms of peppermint. Seed is sometimes available but the consensus is that quality of seed-grown plants is variable and you're unlikely to wind up with true peppermint, so propagation from cuttings is best to maintain top varieties for flavor/medicinal use. You can grow mint indoors on a sunny windowsill or outdoors, but if you try the latter grow it in a pot or a large tub if you're going to sink it in a border (once mint runners escape they can take over a garden - mints are very aggressive plants).

See the back posts in the Herbs forum for lots of information about growing mint, different mint varieties, etc. It is an often talked about herb. FataMorgana
