I have come across many references about the medicinal uses of Oatmeal. In short, after reading few of these references I understand that Oatmeal helps reducing blood sugar, high blood pressure, craving for food ( by slowly digesting food )and lowering LDL the bad cholesterol.Knowing this I have been using Oatmeal regularly daily in my diet. This has helped me in reducing LDL and A1c sugar levels.
I consider Oatmeal as good as any herb over and above it's food value.

"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food" - Hippocrates

Many of the food plants we eat have medicinal or healthful qualities of some sort beyond just pure nutrition. You don't need to take tablets or tinctures for herbal health and medicine. Many a sumptuous dish can be quite healing.

When asked about what "herbs" I use, I tell people the Hippocrates quote and how I use food as medicine. Learn what your foods and seasonings have to offer.
