What phrases did you misunderstand or misinterpret when you were a kid, or have seen kids do?

Frayed knot?

Lettuce pray? Did you peek around, looking for the praying lettuce?

Did you think your Mom's checkbook was magical since she could buy things when she "didn't have any money" but could "just write a check."
