After reading various sites regarding 12-21-12's end of days, it makes one wonder.. Does anyone have an opinion? Will Fri 21, 2012 be the last day? Heck, if it does happen, what's the sense buying more plants? lol. Scary...Toni

My opinion is it's a bunch of hooey.

| Jeff, No imagination? lol. I hope it's hooey too, but one never knows. To think about all the End of Days predictions, like the last where people gave a church? all their savings for signs, etc, expecting the world to end last May...Or was it May 2010? On the other hand, some people state prdictions from The Bible and Mayan calendar. Unusual weather, morals, and so much more. Numerous people are preparing, like they did before 2000. Buying dried foods and bottled water. Anyway, I was just curious as to what people think about 'D Day.'

All I know is that if we're still here the 22nd, I'm going to need a real retirement plan... I think it'll either be nothing (they just never got around to making the calendar past that date) or we're in for a helluva shock. If it's the latter, I want to be at ground zero of whatever it is, no fear of going on in, but "surviving" doesn't have much appeal past camping trips. Good luck everyone!

Purple, lol..I wouldn't want to be here. Alone or with rioters.. I believe in God but not a fanatic. Every so often I get emails from different Christian organizations. I've read a few. Heck, I can't do camping trips anymore..lol

Two shootings in two days..F'ing terrible.. Those poor children, parents in CT. Those alive will remember this day, be scarred for life. What is going on? What is wrong with people? Maybe we need a major disaster. Wipe out most people.

There are so many families who must feel like the world ended yesterday. My heart is aching from this tragedy, I pray for peace and healing for these devastated families.

Purple, yep, I clicked on the link which took me to Timeline Photos. I read comments below..some believe, others making jokes. I've also been spending time on YT, reading about Mayans and Revelation, 'Bible.' I have a FB account but rarely if ever go there, so don't know how it's used. Other than finding people. What did you see on Jeff's link, Purple? Jeff, anything special you wanted me to see? Thanks. BTW, for the record, I'm not saying I believe the end will happen, 7:10AM MW time, 12/21/12. Who on earth knows if/when Armageddon will occur? Toni

It's a pic of the weather forecast for that week. The way I look at it, if some drastic thing is going to occur, it's not really possible to prepare since we don't know what it is or where it might happen, which also makes worrying kind of a waste. Give everybody a hug and tell them you love them. You time will not have been wasted.

Purple, lol. Yesterday, I spent time cleaning, then thought, what if the end comes? Alll this work won't make a bit of difference. Guess I'm not the only one with a messy kitchen! Nope, the day isn't over, but according to the 'rumors' floating around, time was based on GMT time, which meant we would have been goners last night. lol. Next time someone makes a prediction, their getting a Thumbs Down. :) Toni

Larry..did the Mayans actually predict the end or some such tragedy, or did future man make the assumption? Purple..I was hoping something Positive happened..Viewing the sky, seeing planets align or whatever. I don't think man should be extinct, only the majority. :) Like they say, history repeats itself, only without wars, hatred, witch hunts, etc.

Toni, it's good to hear from you. And I agree, you are exposing yourself to too much negativity. It's why, although I like Metallica and Nirvana, I don't listen to that stuff anymore. It makes me angry, cynical, suspicious, I drive too fast... I recently read a really good book called 1491 by Charles C. Mann that was very uplifting and enlightening. Something like that might put you in a better frame of mind for a bit. But you know yourself better than I do. Go to your happy place, do your happy stuff. Wouldn't it be great if washing dishes made people happy? Can you take a vacation? I fear the gray skies are not helping! We started planning our first camping trip last night. It made me feel more in control, and we have a fun goal in our near future now. Having these things to look forward to is huge, even more huge than the actual trips, except for the brief duration of a trip. Then after you have the memories and laughs about the stuff that went wrong... Something positive did happen that day. I loved and was loved by my family and friends. We all were! My kids and my plants grew ever so slightly. The sun shined on millions, babies were born, marriages vows were taken, random acts of kindness. It was an awesome day! I feel bad about my phrasing above, I should heed my own advice and stick to gooditude, not baditude! What I meant was much more positive than what I actually said. Just don't make me sing Charlotte's chin up song from the Charlotte's Web movie. Cuz I will, and I'm not that good!

| Hi Purple. Great hearing from you, too, and always pleasant talking to you. Music vids aren't the problem. I love listening to tunes--music is a natural high. I enjoy reading different subjects. While watching a Tom Cruise video, 'if you're familiar with his, ahem, 'religion,' I researched the topic. I'll check out the book, 1491, as long as it doesn't have anything to do with Scientology! :) OR, made our s/o's happy. Husband: leaving for work. 'Dear, what are your plans today?' Wife: wearing a huge grin, sheer negligee, perfectly styled hairdo & painted face. 'Oh Darling, you're a doll for asking. I have a marvelous day planned, can't wait to get started. I'm going to begin washing windows, mopping floors, then doing laundry. Expect an 8-course meal tonight.' Husband: 'Wonderful! Luv ya. See you around 5'ish.' Wife: 'No need to rush, drive safely. I'll keep your dinner warm no matter what time you return.' Husband: 'Right. By the way, it'd be nice if you wore that sexy, low-cut, black-slitted dress,' knowing she'll do anything to please him. 'Oh, and don't forget to take your pill at the toll of the bell,' secretely thinking, how pleasant it is to be a STEPFORD HUSBAND. Purple, vacations are out. Beside the pets there's other problems. Camping is so much fun. Nature is beautiful, and sleeping outside, under the stars is refreshing. You're very lucky. Yep, we can now laugh at the memories of 'what went wrongs.' Like, four people and a dog sleeping in a tent during T-storms. Waking, to a water-filled top of tent, U-shaped, lying on our chilled bodies. It's great you were surrounded by love, Purple. Nothing better that a happy family. Right? Babies born on the day the world was predicted to end. Wonder what mothers who believed 'Armaggeddon' were thinking the day they gave birth. Purple, I DARE you to sing Charlette's Chin Up! lol. T

Definitely no scientology cult stuff in that book! I hope you are finished delving into that scary stuff. That doesn't sound healthy to me, from what little I've heard. Garbage in, garbage out, u know. If you're not in the mood for history, try that hothouse flower book. That was upbeat and amusing. Wish we lived closer. Between DH (an "animal guy") and myself, I'm sure we could "mind the store" for you for a few days so you could go somewhere fun. I don't know what problems you have in your life, but hope you can find a way to make things better. Sending you good vibes!! This is where we usually go camping. I wrote some extensive reviews on trip advisor (same user name) and added a bunch of pics to the review. We want to go for a long weekend in April, before it gets too hot and buggy. Going much after that is usually too hot. It only takes us about 4 hours to get there. There are a couple parks in the Destin area that would be closer, but they are too close to civilization, I don't want to hear cars from the highway or see lights glowing at night - which would mess up stargazing. We are kind of ridiculous with the amount of stuff we bring, but we've got a permanent packing list of stuff we have to have, there's nothing there so we have to bring everything, down to firewood and water. There's water there but after drinking it the first time, we've brought our own since. Are you a coffee drinker? The first time we had romantic notions of heating the water over the fire, which eventually happened but by the time we had some hot water, we had been up for a LONG time and that coffee was SO LATE, then tasted like ashes. Same thing trying to scramble eggs over the fire. Tasted like ashes, took forever. So we take a nuker for heating coffee water and scrambling eggs in the morning. But I cook everything else we eat over the fire. Then there's the beach toys, beach umbrella, fishing stuff, chairs, floppy hat, rum... The last time we took a giant beach ball and it was sitting on the passenger side of the car where there were going to be people sitting in front and back, so I did no packing on that side and never even saw it over there with all of the other "sand stuff." When I finished, I barely got the trunk closed, then walked over there and saw that giant ball and big bag of sand castle molds and beach umbrella... Finally managed to squeeze that stuff in after much reshifting, then stopped by another beach (the secret pirate beach) before actually heading home. When we were leaving, there were 4 young guys who couldn't get their brand new SUV started, and of course had no jumper cables. It's was 94 degrees but we unpacked the entire trunk to get to our jumper cables. DH, who is a whiz with cars, spent almost an hour trying this/that after deciding that the security system was preventing the car from starting because they had got the electronic key wet while swimming. Remind me not to get involved in a dumb car like that!!! I already hate most of the electronic stuff on my '99 car. Anyway, it was a bummer we never got those guys going, and I still think about them when I think about camping. Wonder how long it took to find a tow truck willing to come out there. Your trips sound like a lot of fun too! Having the dog along would make things even more complete. IF ours fit in the car at all... DH has a jeep cherokee but our dog takes up the whole cargo area AND the back seat has to be folded down for him to get in. Although he would never even get up to "say hi" to people, dogs are not allowed off their leash in FL state parks at all, AND not allowed at the beach. I can understand the beach part, if I stepped in dog doo I'd be grossed out! DH says the water is full of fish poop anyway, I try not to think about that, concentrating on how nice and cool it feels, and how soft the salt water makes my hair feel even after I wash it after. Well I've put this off as long as possible... Chin up! Chin up! HTH! Smiles!

Hi Toni, I agree, stay away from the creepy stuff. I also have a little trouble with the short light days. I have a SADS light to help things a bit. I don't so much get depressed by rather suffer from a lack of motivation. It's difficult to get things done. Hang in there. Larry

| Hi Purple, What was the name of the flower book again? I can't find the thread. Purple, as for vacation, 1st, money is a problem right now. I probably shouldn't bring this up, but I'm semi-agoraphbic..long story. But, thanks for the offer, 'IF we lived closer.' :) After sending, I'll check your link. Yep, I agree..if you go camping, you don't want to be a skip and jump from civilization. Are Apr nights warm enough? No spiders, yep, go in Apr. :) Wow, what a story! You're all exited about camping, but can't leave people stranded. Purple, our trips to and from were a tad cramped..An understatement. Cujo was a Rottweiler. Can't recall his exact weight, (over 100lbs) but he was large, took a good portion of the back seat. Mike and brother were huddled close so Cujo had enough room. lol. Dogs are not allowed to run free in IL either, but because of the location, 'isolated,' Cujo could swim and run free..He'd never go far from us anyway..Rotts are very very protective to their family, loyal. Maybe when you go camping in Apr, you'll be far away from people and can allow your dog to walk w/o a leash?? I agree, dogs should not run free in most areas. Yep, who wants to step in dog poop? lol. Some people don't care where their dogs poop or pee. One spring, I just planted tiny annuals in the front garden. A woman down the street was walking her dog. I watched from the window w/o her seeing me. There goes her dog..lifts his leg and pee's on my newly planted plants. This happened more than once, so that day I stepped outside and explained, 'nicely,' the plants her dog was PISSING on are babies..and will die! Well, sort of nice. LOL, there's another thing fish do in water. :) I didn't know salt water softened hair..you're lucky. Too bad Lake MI is fresh water..although I wouldn't exactly call it fresh. Purple, what do you mean? You have a wonderful voice...Do you sing to your plants? :) I really hope you and your family enjoy your trip..have you started writing a list of supplies? Larry...Do you have one SADS light or is your home filled w/bulbs? One time, we bought an alleged SADS light bulb..I placed the bulb in a ceiling fixture..Let me tell you, I felt SADDER w/this bulb..it was literally eerie. A blue halo surrounded the bulb..the room looked blue.. Heck, I felt blue. A waste of money. The same thing happens to me in winter. My energy level drops drasticlly..no motivation..heck, watering and misting becomes a chore! Something I normally love doing. Trying to think positive..only, what, 10-weeks until spring! lol. 10-weeks go by fast. Thankfully, daylight is a little longer, well, 1-2 minutes per day longer. Thanks Purple and Larry..it really helps talking..luv ya both..Toni

Hothouse flower and the 9 plants of desire. That really cracked me up! There's other people camping where we go, but we've been enough times to know which spots are enclosed with foliage. It's really out in the middle of nowhere. We've been robbed by raccoons 3 times! It's funny to talk about later, tho. Unless we take 2 cars, the dog can't go. Unless we're evacuating some emergency, I don't want to ride more than a few minutes with him. He's not the best-smelling critter and he slobs/gobs in my hair if he gets thirsty. Ewww! It's kind of silly thinking of a 180-pound dog on a leash. Like THAT's gonna stop him. He would have me flailing behind like a pennant, or maybe just my arm! I think he has a leash, I'm not sure. He just listens if he's out of the fence. He sticks very close to "lady who might give me chicken or bacon or a nice crunchy turkey carcass at any minute ...and holds the hose so I can drink cold water." That's my name in dog-speak. Man, even if it's cold outside, step out there for a few minutes if the sun is shining! You need the VitD anyway. I don't care who can see in here during the daytime, they must b really bored if they wanna watch me type & water plants, do laundry, dishes. But I open the blinds and any window covers completely while the sun is up. As soon as the coffee's started, time to go through the house letting in the light. I don't know what to say about agoraphobia except that if there was some kind of treatment, one would probably hope for house calls. A genuine observation that just happens to be funny, don't think I don't sympathize with you, hope you get a chuckle too. I know you still have a great sense of humor. I could say a lot of what sound like brilliant suggestions to me, but I'm sure you've heard plenty of suggestions including the ones I'd come up with. I have a friend who won't leave his ranch unless someone else is driving, which are only 3-4 people he will ride with, and only to go to the closest little town for a very short time. Anything he can't buy at the one grocery store he goes to, he asks me to shop for him. He drives his truck around the ranch, but never as far as the road, his license expired years ago. I don't question any of this, just try to take him to the store once a week. find the right jeans, and just be around. I keep inviting him to Thanksgiving dinner (with rides of course) but he hasn't accepted yet. As long as he knows I really want him to come, that's all I can do. The details are probably different, but it may feel helpful to hear about someone similar. The first thing that comes to mind that you have in common is being very nice people. Hardly seems fair, wish we could trade the 2 situations with any 2 of the overabundant selection of unpleasant people any one of us could nominate. Why don't I just say, "more you, less them in a perfect world!" Best of luck, good vibes and prayers for the surgical issues, and may peace be with your thoughts about it, skill and concentration with your doctors. Glad you liked the singing, or at least good at faking it! Thanks! I don't usually sing to the plants, but I breathe heavy on them. Sounds really pervy, but all I mean is that I'm due for an eye exam next month and this prescription ain't cuttin' it anymore. I can't see tiny details through the bottom of my bifocal anymore so I have to get close enough to see whatever it is with naked eyes. My son asked me if I was going to take a bite of a plant the other day.
