: HAVE two rooted cuttings to trade

Posted by Heather__Michigan MI (My Page) on

I don't have a ton of house plants, or exotic varieties, but a do have

- a cluster of well rooted heart-shaped ivies, and
-2 well rooted hoya lipstick cuttings

that have been reliable bloomers. I also have a

-silver streaked philo,

It truely has sparkly silver markings. And I've never seen another one since I bought it. I tried to root cuttings from it in water but they just withered and died. I'm willing to send "fresh" cuts of it though if anyone is interested.

I'm looking for easy care plants,No more ivies,or aloes.
E-mail me if interested. My first time trading,
Thanks!
Heather

Yup, Got it today. For some reason a bunch of my mail is going into my bulk folder. If you e-mail me do so from your e-mail to mine not thru gardenweb. I don't know how you did it Nan.

I still have plenty of cuttings I can take from my Lipstick Hoya, It's a beautiful plant. It has gorgeeous red flowers. Also the ivy and the silver streaked philo (which I've learned isn't really a philo, but I can send pictures)
I'm just looking for easy care plants with some color in the leaves or flowers. No A.V's
Thanks, Heather

Hi,

I might be interested in your lipstick hoya and your silver streaked "Philo", what did you find out it was?

Hi All,

A note of Caution pls. I was just browsing thru here & noticed 'Lipstick Hoya'. I wanted to advise that Lipstick & Hoya are 2 diff. plants altogether. Also, not so common for Hoyas to have red flowers, likelier pink or white. The Lipstick plant does often have red or orange blooms from what I've seen.

I'm a regular poster at Houseplant, C&S & Hoya Forums. Just posting here 'cause I don't want anyone expecting a Hoya to be disappointed that isn't not that (from the sound of it anyway).

Thanks Pirate Girl,
You're probably right. The tag it came with said Lipstick plant (I believe) It sure looks like a hoya to me. Anyway it produces red buds that kind of emerge out of the red outer 'case'? like when you turn a tube of lipstick. Then the red flower opens. If that helps anyone.I can send a picture if anyone asks, I don't have one of the flowers though.

Thanks Again, Heather

RE: : HAVE two rooted cuttings to trade

Nope, not a Hoya (Hoya blooms don't grow as you described, pls. see the Hoya Gallery for examples of their flowers).

I don't grow Lipsticks, but I had one briefly w/ the kind of flower you describe, pretty, orange blooms on burgundy leaves.

I think they are usually Aeschynanthus or Columnea, you might try a search for both of these & then an image search to further isolate the bloom pix. Anyway, enjoy, sounds lovely.

Glad you understood the spirit of my comment.
