I have one trade of Climbing onion (Bowiea), Sansevieria cylindrica, Stapelia cuttings(small red flower), Mistletoe Cactus (Rhipsalis), and Agave potatorum. I'm looking for houseplants or tropicals that I don't have like rosary vine (Ceropegia woodii), Purple velvet (Gynura aurantiaca), Episcia (Flame Violet), Rex Begonias, named AVs, etc.

Vilcat,

I have Rosary Vine & Purple Velvet Vine cuttings that I would be will to send you in exchange for your 'Mistletoe Cactus' & 'Climbing Onion'. Is your Mistletoe the one that has long & stick like with little white flowers?

Thanks,
Marie

Marie,
Yes, the Mistletoe cactus does have long, thin branches and greenish-white berries. Are your cuttings rooted? If not, how easy do they root and how big are they? Thanks.

The Purple Velvet roots very EASY and I can cut them up 12". I am rooting some for another lady and they have set on blooms since I cut them. Very easy to grow plants!

As for the Rosary Vine, I don't know much about that. It was gave to me as a baby and is taking over, I have never tried to root it. Although it has been in bloom for MONTHS now and someone told me that the blooms are the tubers? If you know anything about this, PLMK.

Hey Marie,

Can I jump in here pls. abt the Ceropegias? No, the blooms & tubers are 2 separate & different things. The blooms are just that, the blooms. If yours is in continuous bloom, I'd guess it's a very happy plant (keep doing same as you've been doing).

The tubers appear in 2 diff. ways, on the growth hangs down from the pot, over time one should see these little whitish ball-looking things, these are the tubers. Over time they'll get bigger & bigger. These are what one plants to make more of the plant. Some folks do well w/ just wrapping the growing stems around the top of the pot & pegging them down into the mix w/ a paper clip or pipe cleaner. Doesn't work for me.

2 wknds ago, I took my plant down, untangled it & checked out all the tubers that had developed along the growth which hangs down. I cut some of the stems w/ the tubers & placed the tubers back into the parent plant, burying them only partway in the mix (leaving the top third of the tuber exposed). That's what Ive heard to do. Hope this helps!

Hi Pirate Girl,

'Some folks do well w/ just wrapping the growing stems around the top of the pot & pegging them down into the mix'

This is what I did with mine. I think it is working but will have to wait a week or so to make sure. I keep it pretty moist and I think that is helping.

Thanks for the info,
Marie
