Jade Plant Pruning Specifics

Posted by mikellesbrownthumb Garden Hardiness Zon (My Page) on

I recently saw two Jades pruned very beautifully (parts 1 & 2 of image). I was wondering if anyone had specifics on how to prune my Jade (part 3 of image) to look like them.

My Jade is young, and pruning won't come for awhile, but I just wanted to know now so I could start preparing if I needed to.

Thanks for your help. I'm a newbie, so keep that in mind when you are answering. : )

It's me again, that image came up very small, so take a look at it on my blog.

Here is a link that might be useful: Jade Drawing

This may not be the best place to post this. Nice drawings by the way.

If you swtich over to Cactus & Succulent & do a search on Wacking Jades, you'll find a lot of info, posted over sevral threads that discuss this in detail. Also has pix of plants by various folks who've wacked their Jades back.

yours will eventually look like section 2 with some age. if you want it to come like picture 1 then you just pluck off the bottom leaves and let it grow up straight. once its to the height you want it you can start back budding it to make it more bushy. Jades are a pretty bushy plant so as long as you rotate it in a bright sunny window you should get a good bushy tree. Hope i helped!
