How to get Ficus Elastica ( Rubber Plant) to branch out

Hello,

I had this plant for 2 years, and when I bought it it was about the size as in the picture. It was really beautiful, however over time the branches just grew really long, with no new branches developing. I cut all of the branches back a couple of days ago and this is what it looks like right now. However, after reading this forum, I realized that instead of branching out, it will probably grow only 1 branch from each branch that I cut. How do I get it to branch out and grow multiple branches from a single one. I would like it to get bushier as it gets taller.
