Just too many aerial roots - could I cut some off?

yes...you can. It won't hurt the plant as they are support roots more than feeding roots at this stage.
But it's looking for something bigger to support itself to make higher growth. With larger leaves.
Depends what you want, and how much space you have.
You could also consider chopping off the top below where the small root is, and rooting that and adding it to the pot or a combined larger pot- to keep more lower growth.

Thank you, that is what I thought; They must help plant to 'climb'.
It is getting too big, I hope to find someone to give it to...I have 2 more that were babies when I repotted it almost 2yrs. ago.
