Here's a close up of the trunks.

Usually you would find a way to make the thickest trunk the tallest, but if you have 2 trunks of nearly equal thickness, cutting back one of them will slow growth (thickening) of that trunk and the taller will automatically end up the thicker. I would keep the trunk nearest to vertical as the main trunk, and cut the other trunk back to 1/2-2/3 the ht of the main trunk.

It's ok to let the secondary trunk grow on an angle, even much closer to horizontal than than (what would be) the secondary trunk is now. Bonsai practitioners are most often looking to train trees in a roughly triangular shape, except for only a very few 'styles'.

Try to get into a rhythm of pruning in mid-Jun. If you do that, you'll be pruning all the winter growth with long internodes off; and what the tree puts on after that will be the shortest internodes of the year. Next spring - repeat. This is how you can keep your trees very compact and full.

Thanks, Al. I plan on repotting first probably early June and then cutting back a few weeks later. I'd like it to develop many more branches than just the two.

Teen, this was the only time I've ever rooted a schefflera cutting. I took this off a large plant at my mother's house, and it rooted very easily. All I did was take a 6-8 inch piece, strip the bottom few leaves, put it in gritty mix, and water regularly. Just under two years later it is what you see in the picture.
