umbrella plant dying

I bought an umbrella plant a few months ago and have been caring for it for some time now. Over the last 2 months the leaves have started turning brown and dry at the tips and falling off very fast.

I was very careful not to over water it, but I'm not sure if I went the wrong direction and under watered it. I've started watering a bit more frequently, but still making sure it does not sit in water.

Recently, some of the leaves seem to just be turning brown all over rather than starting just at the tip.

Is under watering the cause of this? If so is it possible to save the plant?

Hi & welcome to Gardenweb! It's really hard to say from a description. Not sitting in water is good, but the soil may be staying too soggy for a day or so after watering, then maybe getting too dry before more is applied. Are you able to post a pic?
