New pothos surrounded by 1000s of tiny dead bugs

Total novice here - I bought a pothos at Home Depot and brought it to my office a few days ago. No noticeable bugs of any kind. After two days, I felt the soil, and it was totally dry, so I did a thorough watering. A couple hours later, I noticed what I thought was dirt all over the shelf around the plant. On closer inspection, I saw that a few pieces of "dirt" we're moving - and oh my god, it's like thousands if tiny bugs. Super tiny. Too small to even see that they're bugs, except that a few were moving. They're long and skinny, about 1mm long and as wide as a hair. They appear to mostly be dead, but I'm assuming that the plant is filled with live ones. Does anyone know what these are or how to get rid of them?
