I have never seen Aspidistra for sale in the northern US, but they are fairly commonly used as outdoor plants in southern areas, so you may want to see if you can get some in trade with someone down south.
A couple of months ago, I was down in Florida and found a variegated Aspidistra at a nursery down there - but sadly it hasn't grown enough for me to share it yet.

You may also want to think about eBay. It looks like several different sellers have aspidistra for sale now on there.

No, have not seen them at the big boxes (in the East or the South), but they are sold by my local, REAL nurseries. Very cold hardy plant, btw! After the hellish winter of 2013-14 and its multiple polar vortices, I thought I had lost mine planted outside. So..., I got myself another, as a houseplant. Well, the outside one has since grown back. Should be good planted outside to at least zone 7.

A friend from Texas brought me up one this spring! I also found some online at Glasshouse
