Lancifolia is one of my favorites, too.

Yep, lancifolia's get tall, but how it's done it beyond me. Think they need a LOT more humidity than you or I can supply.

What an excellent example of calathea, and a super story behind it. I think it must be an unusual sport, a plant somehow different from all its sibling/clones. If the cuttings you've made of it have the same vitality, it sounds like a plant that some grower might be interested in propagating. I don't know if you'd be remotely interested in such a thing, and I have no idea (well, a few, I always have ideas) how to contact any growers about it, but, when I was a plantscaper, I often thought that if I were a grower, I would try to get the people in the field to send me samples of superior plants for the purpose of developing superior strains.

Another thing I like about this plant is the way it "folds up" at night. I just woke it up to take this picture (putting it back to bed now!)
