Bulbs that fit in standard fixtures?

Hello,

I recently moved into a new apartment with little light and have noticed that a few of my plants are suffering.

I'm looking for plant bulbs that fit into standard fixtures. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

    Is something like this effective?

I use quiet a few CFL (Compact Fluorescent) lamps. I mostly use the "Daylight" & "Cool" types of lamps.

Get a good quality lamp even though they cost a little more. On quality lamps there will be a temperature rating in kelvins. You should look for lamps with a rating of 5000k to 6500k as those are closer to natural sun to the blue range which promote vegetative growth. Warm lamps (2700k) are better for flowering and fruiting but don't help much for regular growth.

You can stick a standard CFL in any common light fixture or use those cheap clamp-on reflectors.

    Yeah that will work.

You may want to use more than one at a time and maybe even a higher wattage. In my terrarium (20gallon high aquarium) I use two 26 watt lamps and in the darker corner of my studio I use two 42 watt lamps in reflectors.
