planting in 'Aqua Gems'

I was recently at the craft store with my mom and saw aqua gems on sale. Ive heard you can use them in place of soil for potting plants. I got some and was thinking of trying it.

I'm guessing I would need to use fertilizer more often because its not soil at all, right?

I'm thinking of trying an African violet or a orchid. Does anyone have any advice on what to try?

NO, you would have to use fertilizer less often.
