seperating individual trees from a 6' pot

I have a 6" pot with about 8 trees. Do they just need a larger pot, or could I cut them in half and repot. They are not growing very dense as they are, and not very tall either.

It's a 6" pot,not a 6' pot.

What kind of trees? And are you sure they are separate plants rather than multiple stems of a single plant? Do you know what kind of plant this is?
