Majesty palm and yucca do better inside?

I have tried putting two majesty palms and a yucca houseplant outside during the warmer months here in east new Mexico where it gets really hot and dry. For some reason it always seems like the sun is too hot for them. The majesty palm leaves turn yellow then dry out and the yucca leaves droop and also turn yellow. When I moved them to the shade they seemed to do better. What is causing this? Is it too dry? I don't overwater them. I want to move them outside so bad but I don't want to loose them!
