Hi Fandog, welcome to GardenWeb!

I have no idea (though I'm sure somebody will,) except that it looks succulent-ish.

May I ask, what's the potato thing in the pot? Curiosity about that is why I'm here babbling to begin with.

Do you think your jade plant is getting enough light?

at first look i thought it was a pepperomia... but then the trunk made me think... eh, not so much.

Its growing tip and waxy leaves remind me of some sort of ficus or fig.?

OK, I DID say welcome to Fandog twice. For some reason your name didn't change colors (visited link.) Should have checked when it felt familiar, not trying to welcome you to death!

I think that's some kind of ficus. Hubby's Mom bought him a bonsai style ficus (with a caudex... not sure how they force a ficus to make a caudex) that looks similar to yours.

Just a guess but I'm thinking possibly ficus deltoidea.

The leaves don't have a delta shape in the pic but perhaps it's still early and in time will look more like the ones in the image search I conducted a minute ago.

Could be wrong....but for now that's my guess. :)
