Hi folks, I was given this and know nothing about it. It had a long stalk with a dried up flower head which I cut off. I need to know how to care for it
Many thanks for any help

Oops! Here is the offending article. Not a great pic. The bottom of the leaves are red growing out to green

It's a bromiliad, of which there are many species.

Could it possibly be a guzmania

Your plant is a Bromiliad, possibly Guzmania, 'a variety of Bromeliad,' as Rhizo and TG said.

When Bromiliad flowers start to die, babies/off-spring grow off mom.
Do you see new sprouts? Off-spring forms nearest moms bottom. :)

Babies grow fast, so please check your plant. Sometimes, if babies are left on mom too long, they dry out.

Let us know if you see new growth? Toni
