Dracaena Marginata Propagation?I Keep Doing Something Wrong.

I have a dracaena marginata that has about 4 inches of bare stem on it.I've tried numerous times to propagate my others, and failed, resulting in one dying and another growing a new branch(not bad.).

When i tried with the others,i cut off the top. With one,i put it in soil, the other i put in water. Both got mushy really quick.I dont see what i'm doing wrong.Should i try air layering?

Hi,

Taking a cutting off of the top of a draceana and rooting it in soil or water usually does not work. Air layering is really the way to go in this instance. I could go into all the details, but below is my favorite website on air layering that I like to direct people to. If after reading it, though, you have any questions by all means ask them.

Good luck,

Larry
