Those EEs are alocasia macrorhiza,or at least I think they are. Years ago I was in a carpool of sorts waiting on a rider when I saw it in said riders yard. Said her husband was gonna hit it with the lawnmower when he got home. That's when I asked if she had a shovel and a grocery bag handy.

I've managed to keep some in culture every year since.

Nope. Don't have a pond or anything either being an apt dweller. Buddy of mine used to overwinter some Eichhornia crassipes (water hyacinth) in his home every winter to "reseed" his pond rather than buying new ones each year.

I've never been able to get any of them to survive indoors. I have to remove all of my pond plants each Winter, and have tried bringing them in, but they just aren't happy. I have to start new every year :(

That's attractive.

I don't have anything like this in the house, but I like seeing the interesting plants that grow in the water when we are canoeing, camping by the beach. The thought of anything involving standing water around here is synonymous with thinking about breeding mosquitoes. I don't trust myself to maintain a schedule for changing the water to avoid that.
