If the tree is very healthy, and you live in a part of the country that allows you to leave your plants out into Oct, you can remove the damaged leaves now, and the plant will replace them with new foliage. If you decide to remove any leaves, simply cut through the petiole half way between where it attaches to the leaf and where it attaches to the branch or stem. The plant will soon shed the stub on its own. Don't pull the leaves from the plant because you'll damage latent buds in leaf axils.

Of course, the leaves won't heal, and they'll be unsightly until the plant eventually sheds them, but leaving them attached is better for the plant's vitality and development. Your decision centers around how important the plant's appearance is to you.
