Necrotic Pothos

Hello, I've got a pothos plant that I've been growing and propagating for the past few years. The only issue I'm having is that in areas of the leaf where there's a large portion of white tissue it tends to turn brown and die off locally. The green areas remain uneffected. The plants themselves aside from that seem healthy and keep growing. I have been using tap water which is somewhat hard. I've read that this can damage spider plants, would the same be true here? Maybe the white areas of the leaf can't get or produce the nutrients it needs and is otherwise unable to sustain itself? Thanks.

This last one is of a younger leaf and you can see the brown spot begin to form next to where my thumb is.
