Help ID plant (Dracaena variety?)

I posted these images to my college mailing list and people suggested that it's a type of Dracaena but I haven't found any that have long leafless shoots like mine. You can see the longest one in the top photo, it ends near the bottom right corner of the image. (More details/story after the images).

I got this plant as a cutting of some sort from my grandmother (not sure where she got it). In Russian it's called the mustache or whisker plant and I think it has medicinal uses though I forget exactly what she told me. It was originally about four inches tall and I didn't notice much, if any, growth until this Spring, and this Summer it has really exploded.

The longest shoot is about 16 inches long right now and is almost horizontal and hasn't started showing signs of stopping to grow leaves. Maybe if I cut off all the shoots it will get out of growth mode and start just growing leaves like the Dracaena I am familiar with.

Thanks a lot for any help you can give me!
