Comes from a series of hybrids called "Metallics " there are others that are almost black, deep brown shiny reds
While coleus always has been colorful these add a whole new dimension This is the first I've been able to locate lol
Guess I;m going to have tlo go to the net . Bummer!! lol gary

i've seen a lot of new interesting coleus in bot gardens but i don't see them in nurseries. what they sell mostly is either muddy or garish or too big. i like to buy 6" pots so that i can fit them with other plants in mixed arrangements.
i usually get a few of whatever is available. but this year i bought none :(. everything was very disappointing.

For me coleus is one of my favorite plants . Such endless variety and they are so easy to maintain and propagate .
There are over 800 cultivars with names but usually they have less than 10 varieties in nurseries and then only the old types lol I'm a sucker for variagated foliage and the further from green the better lol Of course that means that my groups are downright gaudy especially when mixed with other variagated types I can appreciate gardening as an artform but have no artistic talent lol
Of course you can see that from the pic no color or form theme at all lol gary
