to cut- or not to cut

Hi everyone. I am not sure where I should post this, but here goes...

I have a lipstick plant- only 4 vines, but they are getting quite long, The longest one is almost 3 ft now and the others are a bit shorter. I was looking at some pictures of what they should look like and was wondering if I should trim it down some and make new plants? If so, should I water root them? or just soil them? Would it help it to blossom if it wasn't so long?

One vine is turning yellow and the leaves are falling off. Not sure why, I haven't done anything different to it. I just hope it is the one vine and not the whole plant.

I have a few plants that the leaves are falling off, Husband thinks it is too hot outside for them, but it isn't much cooler in the house either.

But back to the question, should I cut it back some? make up some new starts? Try to get it bushy and not so lengthy?

Thanks in advance for any advice :)
Marjie-- trying to get back into plants :)
