Can hydroponics/aquaculture work with Boston fern plants?

Hello guys,

I just managed to get a really nice medium-sized boston fern plant from my Home Depot, and I was wondering if this plant could work rooting in moving aerated fish tank water with fish/snail/shrimp waste as the nutrients for the fern to grow? Would this work?? Or should I not even bother? I tried searching online about boston ferns hydroponics/aquaculture simply to no avail.. By the way, do you guys know what species of fern the plant is? Picture is attached. It's called fern sword on the label.

Any help, input, or advice would greatly be appreciated!

Thanks all.
