If it were mine, I'd give it as much bright, indirect sunlight as possible. It needs to build up its strength, and keep it away from any drafts. You're in the Southern Hemisphere, so a North-facing window would be the brightest, right? If that's not possible, than an East or West window would be the second best option.

To extend the amount of natural light a plant can get during Winter, there were times I'd place a plant in an East-facing window to catch the morning sunlight. Then, in the afternoon, I'd move it to a West-facing window to catch the evening sunlight. After the Sun would set, I'd move it back to its morning spot for the next day. It sounds like a lot of work, but really I only had to move the plant twice a day. Once in the afternoon, and once at night. This helped my plant pull thru and hang in until Spring arrived.

Thanks so much for the advice. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending on the issue) all windows in our house have eves (is that what they're called?) on the outside so I have nowhere that really gets any sunshine.

I bought a cheap (and not very good) greenhouse and have placed this in the sunniest spot in the garden (with shade cloth over the top) but even then its only about 4 hours sunshine a day.

Its now looking worse since the move into the greenhouse unfortunately :( Not sure if I should bring it back inside or not.

Fingers crossed it survives but it doesn't look too good! Anyone else managed to get their back from the edge of extinction?

If you're in Canberra then not even all the hot air from the pollies would be enough to help the Coffee tree to survive outdoors there. Do you know what minimum temperature your greenhouse drops to? The plant would probably be better off inside. It doesn't need direct sunlight, so doesn't matter about the eaves as long as there's still good strong light coming in. Where did you have it before that it thrived?

We moved from Adelaide where it was happy under a shade cloth. Didn't realise re the cold, I was under the impression they were ok with cold and not ok with wind/direct sun

I don't really know how low their tolerances can go, but generally not much can tolerate Canberra, LOL.
