| I keep mine in an east window with the blinds open. It despises drying out. Evenly moist and lightly fertilized works for me. Humidity doesn't seem too important. I live in a very dry climate and often have no more than 20% humidity. Mark |

| I'm in the southern San Joaquin valley. I grow a lot of gesneriads, so my Acalypha pendula gets the same fertilizer they do (12-14-12, 1/8 tsp/gal) but only every 4th watering or so. This equates to roughly once every 2 weeks. I've read that they do not like the temperature to ever drop below 60*F, but I've read one report of a plant surviving 0*F. I'm not sure how much I trust that report though. The plant is native to Cuba and I just can't see it dealing with cold at all. Pests generally aren't a problem, but spider mites and scale have been known to attack them. |
