I can't upload pic...I keep getting a server error but the brown spots whether on the edge of the leaves or in the middle are Laos bordered by by a certain 'yellow' outline...the spots are not wet or greasy
Please help

Leaf spot problems on houseplants can be difficult to diagnose. Your pOthos (correct spelling) could already have been infected when you brought it home.

When I hear a description such as yours, I think of bacterial disease rather than fungus. And with the lesions occurring along the edge and in the center, I can't help but think that it is systemic rather than foliar.

Improper care at the nursery, overcrowding during shipment, and careless care at the garden center can all contribute to the onset and spread of bacterial and/or fungus diseases.

If you purchased the plant from a big box store or other garden center that honors a strong guarantee policy, I would take it back.

If not, try removing all of the affected leaves as soon as they appear. Be sure that your watering practices are appropriate for conditions and hope for the best. I hesitate to suggest a chemical treatment since you don't know the causal agent....and there's nothing you can do if the problem is bacterial. The potting mix must drain rapidly after watering. Be sure that the container isn't sitting in water. And do NOT

Some local Extension offices will offer to send samples to the University's diagnostic lab for testing. That's really the only way to be certain.

Pothos has a reputation, deservedly so, for being trouble free houseplants. But they can be troubled by disease when the environment is conducive to it. That's why I think that your plant came with problems.

I think you should check the roots. Pothos is susceptible to root rot. Recently I noticed that my pothos was not flourishing and some leaves were limp. I checked the roots and it had root rot.

Admittedly it did not look like your plant but I think my root rot was in a very early stage. Despite that, I did throw the plant out because I read online that root rot is almost impossible to fix. You should probably return the plant :-(
