Love a success story. And there's nothing better than home grown fruit. I've got a stack of pineapple fruit coming on now, but the first might still be a month or two off. Once you've grown your own, you can never go back to store bought pineapples. Now you'll have more propagation material. Imagine how well home grown pineapples would sell in Canada :)

I bought a pineapple a couple of months ago for only .98â, so I could try my hand at growing one myself. I chopped off the top and let it dry for about a week. Then I placed it in a small glass fish bowl that was just the perfect size for holding the plant and letting the bottom sit in water. Well, it grew roots and didn't lose any leaves. My "procrastinator-itis" prevented me from potting it up for two months, lol. Surprisingly, it has survived this whole time, and I finally got around to actually potting it up today. If it survived months of neglect, then surely it will survive to adulthood and reward me with my own pineapple in a couple of years. :)

On a side note... I remember how I never liked pineapples as a kid, or I thought I didn't. Then, my neighbor (my third grandmother) got me to try a little piece of one. Little did I know that it would then become one of my favorite fruits, HaHa.

On a side, side note... Has anyone ever tried cooked pineapple before? I was dining with some friends at this one nice restaurant, where they brought around different kinds of cooked foods, and you could try whichever ones you wanted. Well, one of the waiters brought over a cooked pineapple. I didn't think that I'd like it, but tried it anyways. To my surprise, it was actually pretty good.

Back to the original post, that pineapple looks delicious! Good things come to those who wait. Way to grow! :]
