What low temps can a Boston fern in a basket take?

I have 2 large ones, got both on sale for $5 each and would like to keep them a few years. We can grow some outdoors year round here in the ground, but something tells me these two need to come indoors when we have a freeze. Anyone know about these? I posted to the fern forum but it seems to be pretty dead.

If in very good condition, Nephrolepis exaltata are very cold tolerant, even making it through light frosts. Your plants look, at least from the picture, a bit 'thin '....perhaps having needed to be divided earlier in the spring or not having been fertilized regularly.

Do you know what I mean? If these were my plants, I'd protect them from any chance of frost.

wow I think they look great,Mine are much thinner then that.

The one in the plant stand was recently repotted from a 10" pot to 12" pot. The other is in a 10" pot and needs repotting. Its fronds are about 2' long. Both are thick and bushy and have had some fertilizer recently, and they get a lot of water. I could divide them next spring, though.
