How do I take care of the Gerbera Plant?

I am new to gardening. Please explain me how to take care of my Gerbera Daisy plant. This is where i let it sit. I read that it needs a lot of sunlight. But im scared to put it in direct sunlight since that burnt my orchid plant. Also, why is the petals closing day by day. This a plant i bought which already had the flower. Please help. Thank you.
