| I think they cost so much money because they are somewhat slow-growing. If you have patience, you might want to buy seedling Clivias to save money - they'll take several years to bloom, but the foliage by itself is nice. |

| I found a good sized orange one with two plants in it for $20 at my local nursery, and now they have a huge beautiful yellow flowered cliva for $40 (2 in the same pot)that is just starting to bloom right now...and they have a another yellow one that isnt blooming, with just one clivia in the same size pot for $30...they've been their for quite a while, since this last summer that I've noticed...and now since I saw the color of the yellow blooms, and they're alot more beautiful then I thought it would be...so now I really want it....maybe as a Chistmas gift to myself?? lol Also my dream is to some day have a variegated Clivia...I think they're really beautiful. You shouldn't give up if you really want one...when I get my mind set on a certain plant that I really want, I wont stop searching til I find it...and if it seems like it'll never happen, then I go online. But make sure the place you order it from has a good history..nothing worse then waiting for your plant order and receiving a plant with one 3 inch leaf. -FPT |

| Elkay..it's better to wait until spring/summer to buy a Clivia on Ebay..most sellers only ship seeds this time of year. One seller in China sells green and variegated, good-sized Clivias for 15-20.00..normally, he adds Best-Offer, too. So, say he has a Clivia for 20.00 or Best Offer. You'd email asking if he'd agree to 15.00. Most of the time he agrees as long as the offer isn't too low. One seller has Golden Flower, 'Good Hope' for 8.99. That's not bad..Yellow flowers are pretty. If you sow seeds, it'll take about 7-yrs before flowering. If you have the patience, try sowing, if not, buy a plant..lol. Toni |

| My suggestion for a place to buy clivia at would be Clivia USA. They sell on ebay under the name "cliviausa-rbunnyg" or you can order via their website at cliviausa.com Right now their website store has some variegated seedlings for very reasonable prices in my opinion. I'm pretty sure that they can still ship at this time of year - you just will have to pay a couple extra dollars for a heat pack if it's below freezing. |

| nice people : D I remember my first experience with clivia yellow clivia miniata-$20 per seed-$75 per immature offset- 140 for blooming size. I was floored, i realize now what a rarity thay are, and now they are cheaper, about half the proces i mentioned still seems incredibly high for what they are |

| Grabme...In 1982 I bought 5 Clivia seeds for 5.99 at Park's Seed. I no longer shop at Parks, but last time I checked, the cost was 19.99 for 1 seed..Park's sends a second 'free, lol,' seed in case the first doesn't germinate. Price nowadays depends on Clivia type. There are some beautiful rarieties around..cost for one seedling, 2-3 leaves can run several hundreds, which is absurd. In the past I browsed Clivia nurseries in China..they had specimens, cost, a few thousand dollars..Right, I'll take a dozen. lol |

| Mike, Years ago I purchased some very rare varigated and short wide leaved clivia from China. I don't think the grower is around anymore. But most were $1 a seed, some $2 a seed and again long story short. I was lucky to grow every single one and to almost 5 years. They bloom anywhere from 5 years on. And I lost all of them in a few months. It made me give up on clivia for a long time. I now own 'Good Hope' and Golden Dragon' They are large and I had them for 3 years waiting for them to bloom. | Stush, would you like them to bloom for you? I can help you. Mine without fail bloom even as seedlings. I too got many from China and I can't think of the name, but I spent big bucks for them back then. I love them, they are so easy to care for and take up no prime space from my other plants!
