Ok, It's not really an emergency. I just need to know what the best way to grow an avacado tree from seed is ASAP. Anyone?

RE: Avacado emergency!!!

I sprouted a few by keeping a pit in water for a few weeks and then potting the pits in a small clay planter until the roots grew out the bottom hole. I watered often. Then when I saw roots I re-potted into a larger planter and I now have two trees and I am working on three more :)

I dipped the end in rooting hormone and planted in a starter mix. It took about a month for the shoot to emerge. I had two that grew to 12-18 ". Unfortunately, I did not get mine re-potted soon enough and they perished.

Simply throwing them on the ground works well here, but I haven't tried it in the cold. This little one is about 3-4 months old. Why is your avocado an emergency?

Put in a damp paper towel in an open zip-lock, leave in a drawer, or in the kitchen, not in direct light. Check it every few days to make sure that the paper towel has a little moisture (not wet!). As soon as the seed begins to split, pot it into a well-draining potting mix, half buried.
