Devils Ivy dilemma

Hi folks,

I recently bought myself a beautiful new pothos plant. Its potted in a hanging container and seemed to be perfectly healthy until I started meddling with it.....
Problem is- I want to encourage a bit of variegation in the leaves, it must have been faily poorly lit in the florist where I bought it as most of the leaves were almost all green.....
So, I decided to put it under my fluoresent tubes along with a couple of orchids I have to see if I could encourage it to be a little more colourful...............
Much to my horror, the leaves have started to droop and have taken on a very sickly looking pale colour...........not the rich golden green yellow I was dreaming of!!
Any ideas, should I just bite the bullet and place it back in the shade????

Any ideas would be more than welcome,

Thanks,

John

Are you sure your variety was variegated to begin with? There are some that are just plain green and are never going to be variegated no matter how you treat them.

I'm kind of surprised that a fluorescent light could bleach out a pothos that much. Can you post a photo - there may be some other issue going on besides lighting. What kind of light is it?

I would take it out from under the artificial light and give it partial sunlight to bring out the variegation.

Here's a Pothos Blog article talking about it.

Here is a link that might be useful: Devils Ivy Blog
