Poinsettia Chronology

I am down to two poinsettia that I still do the whole photoperiod thing with. One with cream colored bracts that I've had since 1995 and a multicolored pink and cream that I've had since 2000. Thought I'd share a quick photo journal from May until now just to illustrate one method.

Cut back in May and set in the garden to summer outside.
First is what will be the cream one and second the bicolored one.

My seed starting area is idle in fall so it makes the ideal spot to give them their required light/dark periods. Cardboard boxes enclose the the lights and plants keeping unwanted light out.

From the inside of the box...

The final product. Both plants stand over 4 feet tall and actually would have benefitted from pinching back around the start of July. Alas, I forgot.

This ones a bit chlorotic this year. Will need to repot next spring.

Hope you enjoy them and have a blessed Christmas.

Merry Christmas, Tj!

Excellent results with some fantastic plants.

Can you fertilize the chlorotic one to limp it through?

Thanks, Josh. With it being in the low light of my living room now, ferts are having a minimal effect.

Thanks for asking, ninecrow.

The cream colored one is in the lowest light of my living room and is about due to be cut back. The pink and cream one still has pretty good looking bracts. I'll try and post some pix later this week.

BTW Hows Draven doing?

RE: Poinsettia Chronology

Well, look what pix I found in my camera. Took these back in March when I brought them out for a rare warm March rain. The cream one was pruned shortly after the pic was taken. The cream and pink is still gracing my livingroom.

With a yardstick for scale...

The plants are undergoing the usual photoperiod thing. All boxed up under lights in the basement as pictured above.

Is Draven recovering ok? Or, more importantly, are YOU recovering ok?

Hey, Greenlarry, good to see you back online recently.
