This is the vine part

Tradescantia zebrina.
It will grow very well during the Summer in containers. When watered and fertilized, those stems will branch freely and become thick.

Sounds like a blast! I have this stuff in many of my pots with other plants. Also fun in that it turns different colors in more/less light.
