Thought I'd share....

I have been finishing painting some of the leaves I did last year. The mushrooms are made from papercrete using Jonathan's recipe with joint compound. (I hope I am giving credit to the correct person) Sorry if I messed up.
Just ignore some of my other projects on the site that are not crete related :o)
Thanks for looking.
Carol

Your work is wonderful

even the "non-tufa" stuff has a great look to it.

I like the bronze-y effect your leaves show. They look like eternal autumn.

You are correct in your credit of the papercrete source. Your mushroom are very whimsical, especially with the paint job you did on them. Are they going into the garden, a pot, ?...

Keep up the good work. I look forward to what inspirations strike you this year.

Carol, You have the most realistic shaped mushrooms that I've seen. Pretty darn cool! Billie

RE: Thought I'd share....

Jo, Thank you for the comments on my "non tufa" stuff and letting me know I did give credit to the correct person. If anyone hasn't tried Jonathan's recipe it is worth giving it a shot. Fun to play in!!! Yes I do plan on putting them in my flower gardens. I am going to try and make smaller ones for a few flower pots I have. I have spent the winter getting inspirations/ideas. In April I have some time off so hopefully I will be able to do some papercrete and hypertufa before the rhubarb leaves come on. Which I peeked under the leaf mulch I put over my rhubarb last fall and they are coming up.. I was so happy to see that. I will stop because I could go on and on.... lol
Billie, Thank you for the compliment.
Thanks,
Carol

Carol, you have done some real nice stuff, I also favor the Autumn colored leaves, just like the other poster above.
I'm also anxious to get started on a Hypertufa pot soon as haven't tried Hyper' yet, just the concrete. Also will have to try Jonathan's recipe-could you tell me where to search for this?
Guess we will all have a lot of fun this summer making new creations-right now I'm busy with my 4 month Havanese pup, that I got last weekend. Wendy

Wendy, Thanks for the compliments. I am trying to get "forms" and the like ready for when the weather stays up in the 50's at night. I am going to post a couple of links of information for you. I believe this is Jonathan's recipe.. Not claiming as mine just sharing the link. :o) http://members.cox.net/jlopp/art/process.htm
And a thread of some of the things he has done using this mix can be found here.. http://forums2.gardenweb.com/forums/load/hypertufa/msg0610425627363.html
I hope this helps

RE: Thought I'd share....

Thanks Carol for leading me in the right direction to Jonathan's recipe, I just checked it out and have it booked marked for later use.
We've been having warm temps. during the day in the 60-70s, but our weather man tells us it will cool back down by the end of the week to more seasonable temps. We have been getting a lot of spring clean-up yard work done.
My DH just dug in an EE. stepping stone for me, one I made in the basement this past winter. Have some concrete Japanese lanterns that I want to move out on the deck also, made these for family members to take home at Easter. have a nice day! Wendy

Carol,

Great pictures! I too love the leaf. Is there a thread already telling telling the steps and process to make these? I'd love to give it a shot, but I don't even know if I can even find a leaf close to that size!
