acid wash?and other stuff

OK-you acid wash a cement floor before putting a finish on,I'm guessing for better adhesion.Does anyone out there routinely do so before finishing their pieces?

And,BTW,thanks to those who recommended the cement "paint"of the mold prior to pouring.Gives a great finish!

And,again,BTW,at least for face molds,I do'em with a wet mix.Not runny,but as one set of instructions said,"semi-liquid".Works like a charm and allows those nasty bubbles to escape more easily.

Wouldn't giving a slurry finish an acid wash be defeating the purpose?
I have muriatic acid but thus far I'm liking the finish I get from applying pickling vinegar with a brass brush or a sponge.

BTW getting your slurry finish to crack like crazed china is a VERY cool look. I've ordered some concrete stains to apply to this.
It might look exceptional on a mask casting.

Are you talking about applying vinegar on the piece after it has set and brushing to get it to crackle? What does the vinegar do? Is pickling vinegar different from white vinegar? I would love to know how to get a crackle effect - did I miss that posting?
